Pony.ai has announced its seventh-generation robotaxi, aiming for mass production by mid-2025.
The new fleet, developed in collaboration with Toyota, is built on the electric bZ4X platform and integrates NVIDIA’s DRIVE Orin system for advanced autonomous capabilities.
Key developments:
- Fleet expansion: Pony.ai plans to scale its robotaxi fleet from 250 to over 1,000 vehicles in 2025, with projections to reach 10,000 within five years.
- Cost reduction: Through partnerships with state-owned automakers, production costs are expected to decrease from over RMB 500,000 to under RMB 300,000 per vehicle.
- Operational milestones: The company has launched paid robotaxi services connecting Guangzhou’s city center to major transportation hubs, such as Baiyun International Airport and South Railway Station.
