Success at Perficient is powered by our people who shatter boundaries and make the impossible happen. Our global culture is rooted in a shared sense of purpose and a commitment to physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Work-life balance and self-care aren’t just personal goals—they’re part of Perficient’s culture. Whether it’s setting boundaries, staying active, or prioritizing mental health, our colleagues embrace wellness as part of their routine.
In celebration of International Self-Care Day, we launched a four-part blog series featuring advice from Perficient colleagues. The first blog explores how colleagues navigate the early stages of their careers with intention and authentic connection. The second installment dives deeper into personal well-being, sharing how our team prioritizes balance and self-compassion. Learn how our colleagues practice self-care by watching the video below.
Building Healthy Work Habits and Supporting Balance
Some mornings begin with a quiet moment—coffee in hand, journaling, an energizing walk, or sitting in peaceful silence. Others start with a productivity kick with back-to-back meetings and a cluttered to-do list. While daily routines can vary, striving for balance is essential to being present, productive, and fulfilled.

Making time for restoration helps each person show up with clarity and renewed purpose. Small, intentional lifestyle choices can mean anything from setting healthy boundaries, disconnecting after hours, and learning something new.
“I’m passionate about learning and education, and I will often watch educational videos, read, or take online classes. I also do volunteer work, which intersects with a lot of my passions: learning about others’ experiences, growing empathy, as well as building community. Another thing I do just for fun is play board games. I like board games because they flex your mind and build community.” — Jeff Molsen, Senior Technical Architect, Adobe
For many colleagues, the most rewarding moments happen outside the office: parents cheering on their kids, volunteering, or participating in a fitness class. It’s not about squeezing more into the day but being deliberate with energy and attention.
“My sons play multiple sports, and my husband dedicates his time to serving on the board of a community youth sports organization and coaching our boys’ football teams. I love watching them play, be part of a team, thrive in school, and actively participate in our community. I make it a priority to never miss my kids’ sporting or school events. Being there for them is critical to achieving and feeling that work-life balance.” — Erin Zapata, Director, Microsoft

Leading by Example: How Leaders Shape Intentional Work-Life Balance
A thriving workplace begins with leaders who understand that well-being fuels performance. When managers prioritize both professional growth and personal fulfillment, they create a culture where all colleagues feel empowered.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is fostering an environment where my team members can thrive. I am committed to ensuring that they are engaged in meaningful and enjoyable work, feel valued for their contributions, and receive the support they need to succeed. Their well-being and professional satisfaction are paramount, and I am dedicated to being their advocate.” — Erin Zapata, Director, Microsoft
Effective leaders tailor support to meet the diverse needs of their teams, setting a tone of trust and respect. They also recognize that feeling valued is essential to sustaining a sense of belonging. One of the ways Perficient leaders and colleagues alike can reinforce this is through the Perficient Shoutouts program, which honors professional achievements and individuals who are making a difference. A live intranet feed highlights colleagues around the globe, reinforcing a culture where appreciation is visible, frequent, and meaningful.
“I am grateful to work at a company that prioritizes work-life balance and fosters a culture of appreciation for colleague contributions. The ability to maintain a healthy equilibrium between work and personal life is extremely important to me.”— Stephanie Sterling, Business Operations Manager, Healthcare
Empathetic leadership goes beyond task lists–it means checking in, recognizing contributions, and championing wellness. By leading with intention and balance, leaders build sustainable, high-performing teams.
Strong Body, Clear Mind: How Fitness and Self-Care Improve Focus

Not only does self-care include rest, but it also involves movement and energy. Whether it’s participating in CrossFit, recreational sports, yoga, or a drive to unwind, these routines help us stay grounded and focused.
Romina Neves, senior business consultant, Uruguay, finds strength and confidence through pushing herself in weightlifting. “Practicing CrossFit and Martial Arts has deeply shaped my leadership style, helping me stay focused under pressure, lead with example and discipline, and foster collaboration through respect. I value working at Perficient because it allows me to maintain a healthy balance between personal and professional life, reminding me that well-being and performance go hand in hand.”
Physical activity sharpens the mind, reduces stress, improves sleep, and enhances focus. It’s a way to recharge and return to work with renewed energy and unique perspective. Joe Tufo, lead technical consultant, Sitecore, shares how sports have helped him stay connected to his family and build lifelong friendships. “I coach both of my sons in baseball. I still play in two amateur baseball leagues, plus I play recreational basketball. Sports have always been a big part of my life, and I’ve met some of my best friends through playing sports. It’s a great way to stay connected, stay active, and share something with my family.”
These moments, whether cheering from the sidelines or spending time together, create a sense of purpose that extends beyond the workplace. It’s important to explore different activities and use physical wellness as a tool to manage stress and boost productivity.
“I really enjoy driving and exploring new places, especially small towns. For me, driving represents freedom and gives me a moment to disconnect. One of my best experiences was driving from Mexico City to Cancún, where I truly felt that freedom.” — Juan Cardona, Technical Consultant, Colombia
