I’ll never forget the night I saw it. The night my life changed forever.
It was a dark and stormy evening, just like they always say in those old horror movies. But this was no movie. This was real life. And it was happening to me.
My name is Rohan, and I’m a huge fan of bats. Always have been. There’s something so cool about them, don’t you think? The way they fly around at night, using echolocation to navigate through the darkness? It’s like they’re little superheroes of the animal kingdom.
So when I heard rumors of a giant living in the old abandoned mine on the outskirts of town, I had to check it out. My friends thought I was crazy, but I didn’t listen. I had to see it for myself.
As I approached the entrance to the mine, I felt a shiver run down my spine. Something didn’t feel right. But I pushed aside my doubts and stepped inside.
At first, it was pitch black. But then my eyes started to adjust, and I began to make out shapes in the darkness. Old mining equipment rusted away, cobwebs hanging off them like ghostly fingers.
And then, suddenly, I heard it. A faint rustling sound coming from deeper within the mine. I froze, my heart pounding in my chest.
That’s when I saw it. The bat. It was enormous, its wingspan stretching at least six feet wide. Its eyes glowed bright red in the dim light, fixed intently on me.
For a moment, we stared at each, locked in some kind of silent understanding. Then, suddenly, the bat took flight, swooping towards me with an ear-piercing screech.
I tried to run, but my legs were frozen in place. The bat swooped closer and closer, until…
Until everything went black.
When I came to, I was lying outside the mine, my head throbbing with pain. At first, I couldn’t remember anything after seeing the bat. But slowly, fragments began to return.
Memories of being trapped in the mine, surrounded by an endless sea of fluttering wings. Memories of hearing whispers in my ear, urging me to do unspeakable things.
Memories of becoming one of them.
Now, every time the sun sets, I feel the transformation taking hold. My senses grow sharper, my body begins to change…
And I know I’m not alone. The others are coming, drawn to the sound of fluttering wings…
They’re calling me back to the mine, where the master awaits.
Where I’ll become part of the flock once again.
Forever bound to the will of…
The Bat.
