Take Over Begins
On April 7th, the Perficient LDC Colleagues embarked on a heartfelt mission at St. Joseph’s Diner in Lafayette, Louisiana. With six eager hearts, we took over the kitchen at 613 W. Simcoe St., ready to serve those in need. St. Joseph’s Diner, a beacon of hope in the community, opens its doors daily from 11 am to 1 pm, providing free, freshly prepared, nutritious meals to individuals experiencing homelessness and hunger.
For many of us, including myself, it was our first time serving lunch to the homeless. The experience was nothing short of humbling. As we witnessed the line of individuals seeking their next meal, it was a poignant reminder of the struggles faced by so many in our own community.

Volunteers play a pivotal role in extending hospitality, ensuring meals are served efficiently, and maintaining a space that is not only welcoming but also clean and sanitary. Our team eagerly took on these responsibilities, guided by a sense of duty and a desire to make a meaningful difference.
As we interacted with the guests, exchanging smiles and conversation, it became evident that our presence extended beyond simply providing nourishment. We were offering a moment of dignity, a reminder that they are seen and valued members of our community.
Making a Difference, One Meal at a Time
Reflecting on the day’s events, I’m struck by the profound impact such acts of service can have, both on those we serve and on ourselves. In giving of ourselves, we receive far more in return—a sense of fulfillment that can only come from knowing we’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life.
